Turn and face the strange

16 July 1971
My journal was hacked by Russian bots and the contents deleted - 9 years of journaling, GONE. Back up your journal, and make sure that there are no old/abandoned e-mail addresses still attached to your profile.

This journal is friends-only. This is why:

My journal is my on-line home. Just like my own home, if you're a friend, or a friend of a friend, we can chat and see how we get along. I don't just let anyone in. Also, like my own home, fun, silliness, bad puns and interesting conversation are welcome. However, when a polite conversation moves from reasoned disagreement to namecalling, I reserve the right to ask you to take it elsewhere. I don't consider my journal to be a public space. If you disagree with that, you probably won't have a good time here.

Yet another reason this journal is friends-only, and I quote mogwar . . ."jumping into a total stranger's personal space and acting like a jackass is completely dysfunctional". I don't tolerate fools lightly, and jackasses even less. I'm a kind and compassionate person, but my compassion doesn't make me doormat - it has limits.

I am many things, including: wife, daughter, sister, lover, friend; intelligent, loyal, sensitive, silly, sweet; a knitter, a beader, a forger of metal, a reader, and a thinker; politically liberal but fiscally conservative; a Buddhist by practice but an atheist in belief, a Detroit Red Wings fan, polyamorous, bisexual, an adult child of an alcoholic parent, adopted, and a banker.

I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and undifferentiated seronegative spondyloarthropathy. This has affected the way I interact with the world, and is just as much a part of me as everything else. For more information on living with an 'invisible illness', I direct you to Christine Miserandino's Spoon Theory.
